Pirated software has seized or you can say has controlled the technology by Apple Inc to install the modded version or hacked version of several apps such as Spotify, Angry Bird, Pokemon Go, Minecraft and other popular apps on iPhones, one of the journalists have found.
Illegal copying, distribution of the software such as TutuApp, Panda Helper, AppValley and TweakBox have found a method to gain access to a program Apple has founded to let the corporation, distribute business apps to their employees without any checking from Apple’s strict controlled App Store with the help of the digital certificate.
With the help of digital certificate or so-called enterprise developer certificates, these pirated softwares are allowing the modded and a hacked version of apps to install on an iPhone, what it actually does is enable pirated software to stream music without any interruption like an advertisement, to avoid fees, does not have to follow the game rules, seizing Apple and genuine app makers of revenue.
By doing such illegal practices, the pirated software app distributors are not following the rule and regulation laid by Apple’s developer programs, in short, it allows modded and hacked apps to be distributed to the general people around the world through the Apple App Store. Downloading modded and hacked version of apps violates the rules, regulation, and term-condition of services of nearly all significant apps.
The illegal copying, distribution of the software such as TutuApp, Panda Helper, AppValley and TweakBox did not answer to the numerous request for comment.
As per the given information, we get to know that Apple does not have any method to track the record of the real-time distribution of digital certificates or so-called enterprise developer certificates and the scope of inappropriately qualified or modified apps on its iPhones, but Apple has the full power or an authority to cancel the certificate if it finds misuse or inappropriate,
After journalist initially talked to Apple about this, Apple told that some of the pirated software or apps were banned from the system but, in the coming few days they were using new and latest certificates and were operational again.
Head of security at software firm Shape Security, Amine Hambaba said, “No such practices are made against stopping these companies from doing this again for another team, another developer account.”
On this Wednesday, Apple told to media that it would ask for two-factor authentication to log into al developers accounts by the last week of this month, which can help in stopping and blocking the misuse of the certificate. And If you don’t know about the two-factor authentication, what it does is send an OTP to a phone as well as password which could only be done by the real user.
As one of the spokespeople told Journalist that, “developers that misuse and abuse our digital certificate or so-called enterprise developer certificates are in violation of the Apple Developer Enterprise Program Agreement and we must terminate their certificates permanently, and if relevantly, they will be kicked out from the Developer Program ultimately, and we also continuously assessing the situation or case of misuse and are processed to take quick action”.
When again the journalist talked to Apple for comment last week, several pirated software was initially banned from the system, but within a few weeks, they start using different certificates and were operational again.
Some of the famous app developers such as Spotify Technology SA, Rovio Entertainment Oyj, and Niantic Inc have started to fight back.
As one of the famous app called Spotify refuses to say anything about the modified apps and hacked apps, but the popular streaming music provider did tell earlier this month that its latest terms of services would break down on users who are “creating or distributing tools created and mainly designed to block the advertisements ” on its services.
The most popular mobile game maker Rovio said it is actively operate with a partner to discuss the violation “just towards the benefit of both our player community and Rovio as a business.”
The Pokemon Go maker Niantic said users who practice to make or use of pirated software, pirated apps and modded apps that allow cheating on its game are regularly banned for violating its terms of services. And Microsoft directly refuses to comment about it.
At present, it is not mentioned anywhere or you can say uncertain how much revenue the pirate distributors are generating from Apple and genuine app makers.
What they actually doing is providing premium apps at free of cost such as TutuApp gives users a free version of Minecraft, which originally costs $6.99 in Apple App Store, AppValley gives users a modded version of Spotify’s free streaming music service with no advertisement anywhere.
Security research has already warned that misuse of the digital certificate or so-called enterprise developer certificates, which act as a digital signature that inform iPhone a piece of software is downloaded from the web browser can be reliable and trusted when open. The certificates are the most important part of Apple’s program for corporate apps and enable consumers to install apps onto iPhones without Apple’s awareness.
