As we all know that, till now there is no 5G phone launched in the market, but now Qualcomm has come up with the latest processor ready for use in the near future devices.
On this Tuesday, Qualcomm uncovered its brand new Snapdragon X55 5G modem, which is able to run on the lightning-fast 5G network, but as well as 2G, 3G, and 4G networks also. Qualcomm has made two 7-nanometer, multi-network processor, but this 5G chip from Qualcomm is the only one that can support and run 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks. It also boosts smartphone brands to develop and create 5G phones, enough like what’s available with 4G LTE devices.
Staff manager of Qualcomm, Nitin Dhiman said in an interview that “It unites 30 years of cellular and wireless innovation and R&D by Qualcomm all into this one multi-network chip.” The Qualcomm also made another announcement forward that the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona.
The Snapdragon X55 5G modem forerunner, the Snapdragon X50, was announced about two years ago, but now, it is only making its entrance into the mobile device. The Snapdragon X50 chip only supports 5G networks, and because of this mobile manufacturer also have to install another modem for 2G, 3G, 4G networks in their devices. And Snapdragon X55 5G modem is allowing mobile companies a choice to buy the one chip for the several networks.
Snapdragon X55 5G modem gives assurance that it can seriously increase the speed, coverage area and quality of wireless networks. 5G modem can provide speed between 10 to 100 times faster than our usual cellular connection, and even more quickly than anything we can get with a physical fiber-optic cable coming to your house. And it also faster how quick a device will connect to the networks with speed as fast as a millisecond to begin your download file or upload file.
As suggested by the experts the Qualcomm 5G modem can improve the style of living and can also develop new industries, enough as 4G LTE let the growth and lift of apps such as Instagram, Ola, Uber, and Airbnb.
Several runners are just beginning to aim at their 5G networks and the shocking part about the smartphone brands is they are still trying to develop their first 5G device. Some of the top Android manufacturers such as Huawei, LG, and Samsung are trying to develop their first 5G smartphone. And according to the report, Samsung is going to launch its first ever 5G device at its Unpacked event in San Francisco on 27 February 2019.
The first ever 5G smartphone will use 5G Qualcomm X50 modem, which has the capability to download any file with the downloading speed of 5Gbps. More than 20 smartphone brands are preparing more than 30 devices that use the Qualcomm 5G X50 chip, as told by Staff manager of Qualcomm, Nitin Dhiman.
With the coming 5G Qualcomm X55 modem, users can download any file up to 7 Gbps and upload information as quickly as 3Gbps. And users will also get a speed boost when a user enters or tap into 4G networks, with the latest 22 LTE technology, users can download the file as quick as 2.5 Gbps. And in old 20 LTE technology, users can only download the data at the speed of 2Gbps.
The Qualcomm 5G X55 Modem will start coming up in the devices in the near future, as Qualcomm announced, but it is not only limited to phones. Preferably, Qualcomm X55 Modem will appear in laptops, tablets, and cars.
As told by Nitin Dhiman that “the breadth of applications is going to span both consumer and enterprise.”
Qualcomm X55: A Multi-Network Processor
The Qualcomm X55 chip is the only one that can support and run 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks and this feature is very beneficial. As it consumes less power or you can say take less space on the device. This modem acquires very less space to fit in the device and this feature helps smartphone manufacturers develop even sleeker device than before. Just one modem for all network speed such as 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G also decrease the total manufacturing cost of the device, something that’s expected to help build 5G devices more available and distributed all over the world.
The first 5G mobile launch in the market is expected to be more costly. No companies have given information about the actual cost of their device, till now. But, it is sure that it will cost more than 4G LTE variants. OnePlus, for example, holds its first 5G phone might be about $250 to $300 higher than this year’s flagship smartphone OnePlus 6T. This is an increase of 36 percent to 55 percent of the old device.
As all handset mobile brands know that it will cost high, so what they have gone a do is only to introduce one or two versions of their flagship devices that tap into 5G, while most of their smartphone will remain on 4G. Having a multi-network processor chip makes it more suitable that handset manufacturers will put 5G in many of their devices over the coming years.
There are many more advantages of the Qualcomm X55 modem such as it supports more bands, it also gives permission to tap into virtually all networks in every region around the world. This indicates that we can now finally see unlocked 5G phones, rather than buying a phone for a particular carrier such as the first X50-powered devices.
As it is announced by the president of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon, that, after this holidays, all flagship handsets, at least when we talk about that smartphone, which is running on Google’s Android software and using a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, will surely enter in 5G.
As we have told you before that each and every smartphone brand is trying hard to develop a 5G device right now. And the president of Qualcomm also said that “All Android Manufacturers is working on 5G” at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Technology Summit.
