Microsoft informs the users who are still using Window 10 smartphone which is also known as Window Phone, please change over to Android phone or iPhone because they are ending the help or you can say support for Windows 10 Mobile in the starting of December this year. A slight change to the Win 10 phone support page was first detected by Thurrott, a website that also covers Microsoft.

As per the report by Microsoft, on 10 December 2019, Microsoft will end all the services for Window phone or you can say Window 10 smartphone. Services such as new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free support options or technical content updates from Microsoft for free. They directly want to say that there will be no service for Window phone, and just a few Window phones are capable to survive until the last date.

This step taken by Microsoft is not so surprising as vice president of Microsoft  Window 10 Mr Joe Belfiore tweets in October 2107 that Microsoft would proceed to support Windows 10 Mobile with bug fixes and safety updates, but latest features and hardware would no longer be provided. As it is clearly mentioned in the support page FAQ that Windows 10 Mobile users should change to an Android smartphone or iPhone as it makes to end support for Win 10 Mobile on December 10 this year.

“Till the Windows 10 Mobile OS end of support, we recommend that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device,” Microsoft announced. “Goal of Microsoft is a mission statement to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more compels us to support our Mobile apps on those platforms and devices.”

There were many efforts made by Microsoft into both the Android and iPhone, where its Office tools are available free. It also made a partnership with Samsung, which trades some of its flagship Galaxy smartphones with the pre-installed office.

There was a time when Microsoft had a great idea or you can say plan to develop a great smartphone, especially when it renewed the operating system in 2010 and released Window Phone 7. At that time, they carried a ceremony and announced that both iPhone and BlackBerry were dead. And after a few years ago Microsoft captures Nokia’s mobile phone unit as they can make and develop Window phone privately. Sadly this was also a big failure for them, and Microsoft finally wrote down it is 7.6 billion dollar Nokia purchase.

There were many reasons behind the failure of the Windows phone. The biggest reason is that there were not sufficient apps, which includes a few favourite apps which are available on Android and iPhone. The prior head of Window Phone Mr Terry Myerson said a little about its failure in March of last year.

What Mr Terry Myerson said is, “We had a differentiated experience, but it’s so clear in hindsight that the disruption in business model which Android represented was enormous, and that building a new versions of Windows Phone on an incomplete Windows CE platform, designed for small embedded systems, left us too hobbled to ever catch up.”
